Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 6){ وَاِذَاالْبِحَارُسُجِّرَتْ : ’’سَجَرَالتَّنُّوْرَ‘‘} He kindled the oven. {’’سَجَّرَ‘‘} There is exaggeration in it, meaning He kindled it intensely. One form of the seas being kindled could be that the immense heat and fire beneath the earth, which sometimes appears in the form of awakening volcanoes, by Allah’s command will kindle the seas and turn them into steam, causing them to vanish. Then the height of the mountains and the depth of the seas will end, and the earth will become a flat plain. Another possibility is that water is a compound of two gases, oxygen and hydrogen, one of which is combustible and the other supports combustion, and it is only by Allah’s wondrous power that by combining the two, He has made water that extinguishes fire. At the time of Resurrection, by Allah’s command, the combination of the two will end, and they will return to their original state and begin to kindle and burn, causing the immense water of the seas to vanish in the blink of an eye. In any case, when Allah’s command comes, the seas will begin to blaze with fire.
