Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 29) ➊ {اِنْ تَتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ يَجْعَلْ لَّكُمْ فُرْقَانًا … :} After warning about the trial of wealth and children, now the teaching of Taqwa (piety) is given and its benefits are mentioned. The root of Taqwa is "و ق ی" and it is a verbal noun. {’’ تَتَّقُوا ‘‘} is from the form "Iftiaal" (باب افتعال), its meaning is to save oneself. A person saves himself from that which he fears, therefore its meaning is also taken as "to fear." {’’ فَرْقٌ‘‘} and {’’ فُرْقَانٌ‘‘} are verbal nouns, both have the same meaning, but due to the additional letters in {’’ فُرْقَانًا ‘‘}, the meaning is increased, that is, if you always fear Allah and save yourself from His disobedience, whether someone else is with you or not, then you will be granted four blessings. The first is that you will be given a great power to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and due to this power, Allah will grant you the ability to clearly recognize the correctness or incorrectness of every action and then act accordingly, instead of falling into any doubt, suspicion, or hesitation. You will be able to easily decide upon the truth and act upon it. See Surah Hadid (28). Similarly, He will grant you victory and help, and decide between you and your enemies. The second is that He will remove your evils from you, and the third is that on the Day of Resurrection, He will forgive your sins.

{ وَ اللّٰهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيْمِ:} This is the fourth blessing. The meaning of "Fadl" is extra, that is, Allah will not only give you as much reward as you act, but much more than that, because He is the One who gives much more, even more than you can imagine. Allah has said: «{ فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَّاۤ اُخْفِيَ لَهُمْ مِّنْ قُرَّةِ اَعْيُنٍ [ السجدۃ : ۱۷ ] "So no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes."
