سُوْرَةُ الْاَنْفَالِ
Surah Al-Anfaal (8) — Ayah 28
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَآ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَأَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴿28﴾

And know that your possessions and your children are but a trial and that surely with Allâh is a mighty reward.

(Ayah 28) {وَ اعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّمَاۤ اَمْوَالُكُمْ وَ اَوْلَادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ … :} The love of wealth and children is a great trial for a person, because generally it is for these that a person commits betrayal and disobedience to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: [ اِنَّ الْوَلَدَ مَبْخَلَةٌ مَجْبَنَةٌ مَجْهَلَةٌ مَحْزَنَةٌ ] "Indeed, a child is a cause of miserliness, cowardice, ignorance, and grief." [ صحیح الجامع الصغیر : ۱۹۹۰۔ مستدرک حاکم : 296/3، ح : ۵۲۸۴، عن الأسود بن خلف ] In reality, Allah Almighty wants to test whether a person gives preference to the commands of Allah and His Messenger, or to such love of wealth and children that leads to betrayal and disobedience to the divine commands. The way to overcome this unlawful love is the certainty that with Allah Almighty is a very great reward.
