Surah Al-Anfaal (8) — Ayah 21
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ ﴿21﴾

And be not like those who say: "We have heard," but they hear not.

(Ayah 21) {وَ لَا تَكُوْنُوْا كَالَّذِيْنَ قَالُوْا سَمِعْنَا … :} By this are meant the polytheists, hypocrites, and People of the Book who listen with their ears to the words of Allah and His Messenger, but in such a way that they do not truly listen, because they neither listen with their hearts nor accept it. Their listening is as if they have not listened at all. See Surah An-Nisa (46).
