Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 25 to 28) ➊ { اَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْاَرْضَ كِفَاتًا …: ’’ كِفَاتًا ‘‘ ’’كَفَتَ يَكْفِتُ‘‘} (ض) is a verbal noun meaning the active participle, that is, the one who gathers. {’’ رَوَاسِيَ ‘‘ ’’رَاسِيَةٌ‘‘} is the plural, and {’’رَسَا يَرْسُوْ‘‘} (ن) means to be embedded in the earth, referring to mountains. { ’’ شٰمِخٰتٍ ‘‘} means high. {’’ فُرَاتًا ‘‘} means very sweet. The earth gathers the living; they spend their lives upon it, it takes care of their filth, and it also embraces the dead in its lap. If the earth did not gather the dead humans and other creatures, life would become difficult due to the stench. This verse provides evidence for burying the dead to take care of them; even the nations that cremate their dead, their ashes and bones are ultimately entrusted to the earth.
{ وَ جَعَلْنَا فِيْهَا رَوَاسِيَ …:} The earth itself is a great sign of Allah Almighty’s power, and then the high mountains upon it and the extremely sweet water for humans to drink are such great wonders of Allah’s power that even after seeing them, those who deny the Hereafter and say that it is not possible for Allah Almighty to recreate the creation, for such people there is great ruin and destruction on the Day of Resurrection.
