Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 13){ يُنَبَّؤُا الْاِنْسَانُ يَوْمَىِٕذٍۭ …:} “What he has sent ahead” refers to those deeds which he performed before death, and “what he left behind” refers to those good or bad deeds which continued after his death, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ إِذَا مَاتَ الإِْنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ إِلَّا مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ أَوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُوْ لَهُ ] [ مسلم، الوصیۃ، باب ما یلحق الإنسان من الثواب بعد وفاتہ : ۱۶۳۱، عن أبي ہریرۃ رضی اللہ عنہ ] “When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge from which benefit is derived, and a righteous child who prays for him.” : ۱۰۱۷، بعد الحدیث : ۲۶۷۳ ] “Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, and it is acted upon after him, he will have a reward like those who act upon it, without their reward being diminished in the least. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, and it is acted upon after him, he will bear a burden like those who act upon it, without their burden being diminished in the least.”

The second meaning of {’’ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَ اَخَّرَ ‘‘} is that he will be informed of everything he did and what he was supposed to do but did not do. The third meaning is that everything he did earlier and later will be told to him along with the date and time.
