Surah Al-Muddaththir (74) — Ayah 3

By bringing { وَ رَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ: ’’ رَبَّكَ ‘‘} first, the meaning is created that you should proclaim only the greatness of your Lord. In {’’ فَكَبِّرْ ‘‘}, the "fa" is in response to the previous {’’ قُمْ ‘‘}, that is, in the same way, in {’’قُمْ فَكَبِّرْ رَبَّكَ۔‘‘}, as well as in {’’ وَ ثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ ‘‘} and {’’ وَ الرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ‘‘}, the "fa" is also in response to this {’’ قُمْ ‘‘}. In the words of {’’ وَ رَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ ‘‘}, both meanings are present: "consider only your Lord as great" and "proclaim only the greatness of your Lord," meaning that when inviting others, no matter how great a chief, wealthy person, king, or tyrant someone may be, their greatness should not become an obstacle to your invitation; rather, consider only your Lord as great. When only He is great in your heart, mind, and before your eyes, then all creation will seem insignificant to you, and no one's greatness will prevent you from conveying the oneness of Allah and His commands, as Allah Almighty has described the attribute of His messengers: « الَّذِيْنَ يُبَلِّغُوْنَ رِسٰلٰتِ اللّٰهِ وَ يَخْشَوْنَهٗ وَ لَا يَخْشَوْنَ اَحَدًا اِلَّا اللّٰهَ » [ الأحزاب : ۳۹ ] "Those who convey the messages of Allah and fear only Him and do not fear anyone except Allah."

The second meaning is "proclaim only the greatness of your Lord," that is, deny the greatness of all those whom the ignorant and polytheists consider great, and clearly announce that in this universe, greatness belongs only to Allah; no one else has the right to claim greatness, and therefore, only He is worthy of worship.
