Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 5) ➊ { اِنَّا سَنُلْقِيْ عَلَيْكَ … :} In this verse and the next two verses, the wisdom behind the command of standing in prayer at night is explained: that in order to develop the capacity to bear the heavy burden of divine revelation, standing in prayer at night and reciting the Qur'an with full contemplation is extremely necessary.

{ ’’ قَوْلًا ثَقِيْلًا ‘‘} (Heavy word) refers to divine revelation, which is heavy even at the time of its descent, heavier than every word and everything, its implementation is heavy, and the duty to convey it to the entire world is also very heavy. Its details are as follows: (1) At the time of the descent of revelation, a great burden would fall upon you (the Prophet ﷺ), which was very heavy for you to bear. Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that even on a very cold day, when revelation would descend upon you, and when that state would end, sweat would be dripping from your forehead. [ بخاري، بدء الوحي، باب کیف کان بدء الوحي : ۲ ] Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) says that once revelation descended upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while his thigh was on my thigh, and the weight of his thigh was such that it was about to crush my thigh. [ دیکھیے بخاري : ۲۸۳۲ ] Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when you ﷺ were riding a camel and revelation would descend upon you, the camel would lower its neck to the ground. [ دیکھیے مسند أحمد : 118/6، ح : ۲۴۹۲۱ ] (2) This word is heavier than all other words; all other words are insignificant in comparison to it. (3) Acting upon its commands is heavy; performing the five daily obligatory prayers and other commands, and abstaining from what it has forbidden, is very burdensome on the self. (4) It is also heavy because there is a command to convey it to all the people of the world, which is an extremely difficult task. For this, you will have to endure people's opposition, taunts and reproaches, mockery and ridicule, abuse, physical harm, assassination plots, and migration and Jihad—everything.
