سُوْرَةُ الْجِنِّ
Surah Al-Jinn (72) — Ayah 14
وَأَنَّا مِنَّا ٱلْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا ٱلْقَـٰسِطُونَ ۖ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا۟ رَشَدًا ﴿14﴾

‘And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allâh, after listening to this Qur’ân), and of us some are Al-Qâsitûn (disbelievers - those who have deviated from the Right Path)’. And whosoever has embraced Islâm (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allâh), then such have sought the Right Path."

(Ayah 15,14) ➊ {وَ اَنَّا مِنَّا الْمُسْلِمُوْنَ وَ مِنَّا الْقٰسِطُوْنَ … : ’’ الْقٰسِطُوْنَ ‘‘} Wrongdoers, those who deviate from the right path. {’’قَسَطَ يَقْسِطُ‘‘} (Ḍād) {’’قَسْطًا‘‘} (with a fatḥah on qāf) to do wrong, to deviate from the straight path. {’’ اَلْقِسْطُ‘‘} (with a kasrah on qāf) justice. {’’أَقْسَطَ يُقْسِطُ‘‘} (af‘āl) to do justice. That is, after hearing the guidance, some of us became obedient. These are those who intend, with full effort, to walk on the straight path. {’’تَحَرّٰي يَتَحَرّٰي تَحَرِّيًا‘‘} To intend, to reach from assumption to certainty with effort. And those who have deviated from the right path will become the fuel of Hell.
➋ Here a question arises: those who were created from fire, how will they become the fuel of Hell? The answer is that just as man is made from clay, but if he is struck with a lump of clay, he feels pain, and every living thing is created from water, as Allah Almighty has said: « وَ جَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ » [ الأنبیاء : ۳۰ ] (And We made every living thing from water), yet this very water can drown it. Water extinguishes fire, but this same water is a blessing for the jinn who are created from fire, as is mentioned in Surah Rahman, verses (50, 66), and also in verse (16) of this Surah al-Jinn. The reality is that despite being created from fire, the jinn have a distinct form and appearance that is affected by fire, just as flesh-and-blood humans, though created from clay, have a form and appearance distinct from clay. Here ends the speech of the jinn which Allah Almighty has conveyed; in the coming verses, the address of Allah Almighty begins again.
