Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 84){ وَ اَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَّطَرًا ……: ’’ مَطَرًا ‘‘} This is an emphasis of {’’ اَمْطَرْنَا ‘‘}, and the tanween is to express its horror, meaning a tremendous rain. Allah Almighty overturned their town, so in the Qur’an this town and the surrounding towns are called {’’ الْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ ‘‘} (Najm: 53), meaning the overturned one, and {’’ الْمُؤْتَفِكٰتِ ‘‘} (Tawbah: 70). Then a rain of layered stones of baked clay was sent down upon them. (See Hud: 82) And that region was destroyed in such a way that it has not been inhabited until now. The cause of their punishment was their evil deed and persistence in it, along with disbelief and mockery towards the Prophet.
