Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 77) ➊ {فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ …… :} Although only one person had hamstrung the she-camel, since all of them had appointed him and they were all supporting him, therefore all were deemed guilty and the punishment came upon all. In Surah Qamar it is stated: «فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطٰى فَعَقَرَ » [ القمر : ۲۹ ] "So they called their companion, and he undertook (the deed) and hamstrung (her)." The scholars of exegesis have written the name of this most wretched one (the greatest evildoer) (Shams: 12) as Qudar bin Salif. (And Allah knows best)
{ وَ قَالُوْا يٰصٰلِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَاۤ …… :} That is, you used to say, beware, do not touch this she-camel with any evil intent, otherwise you will be seized by Allah's punishment. Now, if you are truly a Messenger, then bring that punishment.
