سُوْرَةُ الْاَعْرَافِ
Surah Al-A'raaf (7) — Ayah 71
قَالَ قَدْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ رِجْسٌ وَغَضَبٌ ۖ أَتُجَـٰدِلُونَنِى فِىٓ أَسْمَآءٍ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّا نَزَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ ۚ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ ﴿71﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
(Hûd) said: "Torment and wrath have already fallen on you from your Lord. Dispute you with me over names which you have named - you and your fathers - with no authority from Allâh? Then wait, I am with you among those who wait."

(Ayah 71) ➊ { اَتُجَادِلُوْنَنِيْ فِيْۤ اَسْمَآءٍ سَمَّيْتُمُوْهَاۤ اَنْتُمْ وَ اٰبَآؤُكُمْ:} You call someone the god of rain, someone the god of wind, someone the god of wealth, and someone the god of illness, whereas in reality none of these is actually a god of anything; these are merely names, there is no reality behind them.
➋ {مَا نَزَّلَ اللّٰهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطٰنٍ:} That is, He has never said anywhere that I have transferred such divine powers to so-and-so, and made so-and-so the remover of difficulties, so-and-so the granter of treasures, so-and-so the succorer, so-and-so the supporter, and so-and-so the provider; these and such titles have been fabricated by people and attributed to these revered personalities, which have become causes of shirk.
