Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 51) ➊ At the beginning of {فَالْيَوْمَ نَنْسٰىهُمْ …… :}, the signs of the disbelievers are described—those who made their religion a pastime and a game, and whom the abundance and prosperity of worldly life deceived regarding the Hereafter, and they forgot the Hereafter. As a result of this forgetfulness, they were neglected. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will meet a servant and say: 'O so-and-so! Did I not honor you? Did I not make you a leader? Did I not get you married? Did I not subdue horses and camels for you, and give you free rein to become a leader among people and take a quarter of their income as tax?' He will say: 'Why not, O my Lord!' Allah Almighty will say: 'Did you believe that you would meet Me?' He will say: 'No!' Allah Almighty will say: 'Then I am forgetting you as you forgot Me.'" [ مسلم، الزہد والرقائق، باب الدنیا سجن المؤمن وجنۃ الکافر : ۲۹۲۸، عن أبی ھریرۃ رضی اللہ عنہ ] Here, "forgetting" means to abandon, because Allah Almighty does not forget at all. He said: «لَا يَضِلُّ رَبِّيْ وَ لَا يَنْسَى» [ طٰہٰ : ۵۲ ] "My Lord neither errs nor forgets." That is, Allah Almighty will throw them into Hell and will not care for them at all. Here, forgetting is mentioned as a recompense for forgetting, meaning no matter how much they call out, they will not be shown mercy.

{ كَمَا نَسُوْا لِقَآءَ يَوْمِهِمْ هٰذَا:} It is understood that those who make religion a pastime and a game, and those who deny the signs of Allah, are the very ones who forget the Hereafter and the meeting with Allah Almighty, and consider worldly life to be everything.
