Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 23) { قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَاۤ اَنْفُسَنَا…… :} In Surah Al-Baqarah, it is mentioned that Adam (peace be upon him) learned these words from his Lord, and through these very words his repentance was accepted. For details, see the benefits of Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah (37). From the supplication of Adam (peace be upon him), the difference between him and Iblis becomes clear: here there is humility, admission of sin, expression of neediness before Allah Almighty, and a request for forgiveness; there, there is arrogance, insistence on one's sin, expression of intent for further disobedience, and a request for respite. Similarly, here, due to pure nature, even the enemy is trusted because of an oath; there, due to jealousy, there is enmity even with the innocent. Observe the independence of Allah Almighty: the supplication of the friend is accepted, and so is that of the enemy. Surely, there were countless wisdoms of that Pure Lord in this.
