سُوْرَةُ الْاَعْرَافِ
Surah Al-A'raaf (7) — Ayah 203
وَإِذَا لَمْ تَأْتِهِم بِـَٔايَةٍ قَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا ٱجْتَبَيْتَهَا ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَتَّبِعُ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ مِن رَّبِّى ۚ هَـٰذَا بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿203﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And if you do not bring them a miracle [according to their (i.e. Quraish-pagans’) proposal], they say: "Why have you not brought it?" Say: "I but follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This (the Qur’ân) is nothing but evidence from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe."

(Ayah 203) ➊ {وَ اِذَا لَمْ تَاْتِهِمْ بِاٰيَةٍ … :} In this verse, an example is given of the misguidance and unreasonable stubbornness of the brothers of the devils, that is, they say to the Prophet out of enmity, "Why do you not bring a sign (miracle) from your own side?" It is said, "I only follow divine revelation and cannot present any miracle from myself." See Surah Yunus (15 to 17).
➋ { هٰذَا بَصَآىِٕرُ مِنْ رَّبِّكُمْ … :} In this, there is an indication that the Noble Qur'an itself is a great and sufficient miracle; with it present, the demand for further miracles is merely an excuse for not accepting. See Surah Ankabut (50, 51). Then here, three great qualities of the Qur'an are mentioned, which are unique to this miracle alone.
