Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 196) {اِنَّ وَلِيِّۧ اللّٰهُ الَّذِيْ نَزَّلَ الْكِتٰبَ …:} This is the response to the threats of the polytheists which they used to give to the Prophet (peace be upon him). They used to say that you should stop speaking ill of our deities, otherwise you will be seized by their wrath and destroyed. It is said: My Friend and Helper is Allah; I do not care about your threats. Also, this contains an invitation to monotheism: when these idols are deprived of power and knowledge, then those who possess intellect and understanding should worship Allah alone, Who has revealed the perfect Book for the guidance of mankind and Who is, in every way, the Friend and Helper of the righteous.
