سُوْرَةُ الْاَعْرَافِ
Surah Al-A'raaf (7) — Ayah 178
مَن يَهْدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِى ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ ﴿178﴾

Whomsoever Allâh guides, he is the guided one, and whomsoever He sends astray,- then those! they are the losers.

(Ayah 178) {مَنْ يَّهْدِ اللّٰهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِيْ … :} The light of guidance is a gift from Allah Almighty; He is its Owner, He grants it to whomever He wills and withholds it from whomever He wills, and that person continues to wander in the darkness of misguidance. This is the matter of predestination; it is obligatory to have faith in it, and it is also obligatory to have faith that if He does not grant guidance to someone, He is not unjust, because the Owner may give His possession to whomever He wills and withhold it from whomever He wills, and He is such an Owner that no one even dares to question Him. He said: «{ لَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَ هُمْ يُسْـَٔلُوْنَ }» [ الأنبیاء : ۲۳ ] "He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned." Yes, it is certain that whatever He has done is absolute justice, because He does not commit even the slightest injustice. He said: «{ وَ مَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِّلْعَبِيْدِ }» [ حٰمٓ السجدۃ : ۴۶ ] "And your Lord is never unjust to the servants."
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say in every sermon after praise and glorification: [ مَنْ يَّهْدِهِ اللّٰهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ وَ مَنْ يُّضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ ] [ مسلم، الجمعۃ، باب تخفیف الصلاۃ والخطبۃ :۸۶۸، عن ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنھما ] "Whomever Allah guides, none can misguide him, and whomever He leads astray, none can guide him to the straight path."
