And (remember) when your Lord declared that He would certainly keep on sending against them (i.e. the Jews), till the Day of Resurrection, those who would afflict them with a humiliating torment. Verily, your Lord is Quick in Retribution (for the disobedient, wicked) and certainly He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (for the obedient and those who beg Allâh’s Forgiveness).

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 167) {وَ اِذْ تَاَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ … :} In the previous verses, the trials of the Jews with ease and hardship and some of their good and bad deeds were mentioned. Now, in this verse, it is stated that until the Day of Resurrection, such people will continue to be imposed upon them who will make them taste the worst torment. In Surah Al-Imran (112), it is stated that humiliation has been imposed upon them except with Allah’s protection and the protection of people. See the commentary of the mentioned verse. The entire history of the Jews is a living testimony to this reality; in every era, wherever they lived, they remained subjugated and enslaved by others, and from time to time, such rulers were imposed upon them who made them the target of oppression and cruelty. See Surah Bani Isra’il (4 to 8). In recent times, the treatment meted out to them by Hitler is not hidden from anyone. Even if, in some places, they temporarily attained peace and security and established a nominal government, it was not by their own strength but entirely by the support of others.
