Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 30 to 32) {خُذُوْهُ فَغُلُّوْهُ …:} The command will be given: seize him and put a collar around his neck, then throw him into the blazing Fire, then bind him in a chain which is seventy (70) cubits long. The inhabitants of Hell will be bound in Hell with collars and chains and tied to long pillars so that they cannot move, because even movement brings some relief from the punishment. It is said: « اِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُّؤْصَدَةٌ (8) فِيْ عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ » [ الھمزۃ : 9،8 ] "Indeed, it is closed in on them. In extended columns." Seventy cubits may refer to this measurement or to a great length, because among the Arabs the number seventy is also used to indicate abundance. Then it is possible that this chain is separate for each criminal, and it is also possible that all are threaded together in the same chain. (Al-Tasheel)
