Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

In {لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً : ’’ لِنَجْعَلَهَا ‘‘}, the pronoun in {’’هَا‘‘} is referring to this incident, meaning "so that We may make this incident a lesson and a reminder for you." The incident of the people of Noah (peace be upon him) was being transmitted generation after generation, and the Arabs were well aware of it. Some commentators have taken this pronoun in {’’هَا‘‘} to mean {’’ الْجَارِيَةِ ‘‘} (the Ark), but the words that follow, {’’ وَ تَعِيَهَاۤ اُذُنٌ وَّاعِيَةٌ ‘‘} (and a remembering ear may remember it), make it clear that the pronoun refers to the "incident," because {’’وَعٰي يَعِيْ‘‘} means to listen thoughtfully and remember. By {’’ اُذُنٌ ‘‘} (ear) is meant human beings with ears, who, when they hear the incident, take a lesson from it about how dreadful the outcome is of denying the Hereafter and rejecting the messengers of Allah.
