Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 11){ اِنَّالَمَّاطَغَاالْمَآءُ …:} This is a reference to the incident of Noah (peace be upon him). Along with this, Allah Almighty has mentioned His favor, saying that when, due to the insistence of the people of Noah (peace be upon him) on disbelief and polytheism, the water rose so high that it surpassed all usual limits, We were the ones who boarded you in the ship beforehand, and then kept that ship safe amidst such an overwhelming amount of water; otherwise, there was no way to escape from that flood. Here, although the address is to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the people of his time and after, the meaning is that your forefathers were boarded; when they were boarded, you too were boarded, because you were in their loins. If they had not boarded that ship and been saved from the flood, then today you would not exist either.
