Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 1 to 3){ اَلْحَآقَّةُ (1) مَاالْحَآقَّةُ … : ’’ اَلْحَآقَّةُ ‘‘ ’’حَقَّيَحِقُّ‘‘} (ض، ن) (to be established, to be obligatory) is on the pattern of {’’فَاعِلَةٌ‘‘}, meaning that which is bound to happen, that which is obligatory, whose occurrence is certain. The reference is to the Day of Judgment, because it will certainly occur, and that is why its name is also {’’ الْوَاقِعَهُ ‘‘} (the one that will occur). (See Haqqah: 15) The mention of the Day of Judgment is started with interrogative phrases; this is a special style of the people of eloquence. The purpose of this is, firstly, to draw the listener’s attention and create eagerness, and secondly, to express the greatness and terror of the Day of Judgment, that it is so magnificent that neither can you fully comprehend it, nor is there anyone else who can make you know what it is.
