Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 8) {فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ:} In this verse and the verses to come, Allah Almighty has commanded not to obey the deniers, nor to obey any person who is a great swearer and disgraced. It is understood that those who do such deeds are so evil in the sight of Allah Almighty that, whatever they say, it is not permissible for a Muslim to follow them. So how could Allah Almighty ever approve of Muslims themselves engaging in such deeds? In other words, when obedience to those possessing these traits has been forbidden, then adopting these traits oneself is even more strictly forbidden. Another point understood is that whatever the disbelievers want to make Muslims accept, no matter how beautiful it may appear outwardly, there is always some evil intention behind it. Therefore, their words should never be accepted under any circumstances.
