(And remember) the Day when He will gather you (all) on the Day of Gathering, - that will be the Day of mutual loss and gain (i.e. loss for the disbelievers as they will enter the Hell-fire and gain for the believers as they will enter Paradise). And whosoever believes in Allâh and performs righteous good deeds, He will expiate from him his sins, and will admit him to Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) to dwell therein forever; that will be the great success.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 9) ➊ {يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُكُمْ لِيَوْمِ الْجَمْعِ:} is the adverbial phrase of {’’ لَتُبْعَثُنَّ ثُمَّ لَتُنَبَّؤُنَّ ‘‘}; the Day of Resurrection is called {’’ يَوْمُ الْجَمْعِ ‘‘} because on that day all the former and latter generations will be gathered in one plain. (See Hud: 103; As-Saffat: 49, 50; Ash-Shura: 7; Al-Mursalat: 38) The meaning of {’’يَوْمُ الْجَمْعِ‘‘} can also be that on that day every bone and every particle of a human's body, which had been scattered, will be gathered together, as He said: «اَيَحْسَبُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَلَّنْ نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهٗ» [ القیامۃ : ۳ ] "Does man think that We will never assemble his bones?"
{ذٰلِكَ يَوْمُ التَّغَابُنِ: ’’غَبَنَ‘‘ (ن) ’’فُلَانًا فِي الْبَيْعِ‘‘} To gain benefit for oneself by causing loss to another in a transaction. At-Tabari has narrated with an authentic chain from Ali bin Abi Talhah from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding {’’ ذٰلِكَ يَوْمُ التَّغَابُنِ ‘‘}, he said: [هُوَ اسْمٌ مِّنْ أَسْمَاءِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَذٰلِكَ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ يَغْبُنُوْنَ أَهْلَ النَّارِ ] "That is, Yawm at-Taghabun is one of the names of the Day of Resurrection, and this name is because on that day the people of Paradise will gain benefit by putting the people of Hell in loss." Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the details of this profit and loss have been explained by Allah Himself further on, as to what the believers and doers of righteous deeds will receive and what will be the share of the disbelievers and deniers.
{وَ مَنْ يُّؤْمِنْۢ بِاللّٰهِ وَ يَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا … :} This is the statement of the share of the winners among the winners and losers of that day.
