Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 7) ➊ {عَسَىاللّٰهُاَنْيَّجْعَلَبَيْنَكُمْوَبَيْنَالَّذِيْنَعَادَيْتُمْمِّنْهُمْمَّوَدَّةً:} Allah Almighty gave the command to Muslims to sever ties with their polytheist relatives; although breaking relations with their loved ones was a very difficult task, they obeyed Allah’s command and did not care about kinship. Seeing their sincerity and devotion, Allah Almighty comforted them with this verse and gave them glad tidings that soon Allah will create friendship between you and those with whom you have enmity because of religion; your loved ones will become Muslims and enmity will turn into love.
➋ { وَاللّٰهُقَدِيْرٌ:} Apparently, it did not seem possible that those who expelled the Muslims from Makkah, did not let them live in peace even in Madinah, waged the battles of Badr, Uhud, Khandaq, and other conflicts, would become friends again. Therefore, Allah Almighty said that Allah is capable of everything; for Him, turning hearts is not difficult. Thus, only a short time after the revelation of these verses, Makkah was conquered, the Quraysh and other tribes began entering Islam in droves, and except for those disbelievers who were killed, eventually all became Muslims, so much so that no polytheist remained in the Arabian Peninsula. Abu Sufyan and other Qurayshi leaders who had fought against the Muslims now began to fight for the supremacy of Islam, ready to sacrifice their lives.
➌ {وَاللّٰهُغَفُوْرٌرَّحِيْمٌ:} That is, the enmity the polytheists have held against the believers until now, Allah Almighty, due to His forgiveness and mercy, will overlook it and grant them the ability to believe and become friends of the Muslims.
