Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 83) ➊ {وَ تِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَاۤ … :} By this argument is meant the proofs of monotheism that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) presented before his people; these proofs were granted to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) by Allah Almighty in opposition to his people. This also supports the point that these matters are not from his childhood, that he gradually moved from polytheism to monotheism, because a prophet of Allah never errs in understanding the oneness of Allah Almighty.
{نَرْفَعُ دَرَجٰتٍ مَّنْ نَّشَآءُ:} That is, since Ibrahim (peace be upon him) did not care for his own life and devoted himself to calling towards monotheism, therefore We also bestowed great favors upon him. Even in this world, he was granted the reward that in old age he was blessed with righteous offspring, and after him, the chain of prophethood and scripture among his descendants continued, and the last prophet of this chain is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
