"And how should I fear those whom you associate in worship with Allâh (though they can neither benefit nor harm), while you fear not that you have joined in worship with Allâh things for which He has not sent down to you any authority. (So) which of the two parties has more right to be in security? If you but know."

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

:} This completes the second answer in the above verse, that is, why should I fear your deities when I am certain that they can neither benefit nor harm me? In fact, you should be afraid, as you are committing the greatest injustice by associating partners with Allah without any proof.

:} Which of us has a greater right to security (to be free from fear)? Is it you, the polytheists, who, out of mere superstition, think that these idols might be able to benefit or harm, or is it us, the pure monotheists, who are certain and assured that only Allah has power over all benefit and harm, and that no dead or living being in the world besides Him can harm us in the slightest? Even in this Ummah, those who recite the kalimah but are devotees of saints say to the people of Tawheed that whoever abandons the “Gyarhveen” of the great saint, his son or buffalo dies, or some other harm may befall him. For them too, the answer is the same as what Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said.
