Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 74) ➊ {وَاِذْقَالَاِبْرٰهِيْمُلِاَبِيْهِاٰزَرَ … :} In the above verses, while presenting the proofs of the truth of monotheism and the falsehood of polytheism, the false beliefs of the polytheists of Makkah were criticized, and now, to refute polytheism, the story of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is mentioned as support, that he was the greatest caller to monotheism and was completely disassociated from polytheism. And Muslims are advised to see how he separated himself from his people. The polytheists of Makkah claimed to follow the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), so when Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was a monotheist, what argument remains for you now to justify polytheism?
➋ From this verse, it is known that the name of Ibrahim’s (peace be upon him) father was Azar. Now, if in previous books his name is written as Arakh or Tarakh, then the statement of the Quran will be the truth. At most, it can be said that Arakh or Tarakh was his title, but to say that his father's name was not Azar but that this was the name of his uncle is completely baseless.
