سُوْرَةُ الْاَنْعَامِ
Surah Al-An'aam (6) — Ayah 60
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا جَرَحْتُم بِٱلنَّهَارِ ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُكُمْ فِيهِ لِيُقْضَىٰٓ أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﴿60﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
It is He Who takes your souls by night (when you are asleep), and has knowledge of all that you have done by day, then He raises (wakes) you up again that a term appointed (your life period) be fulfilled, then (in the end) unto Him will be your return. Then He will inform you of that which you used to do.

(Ayah 60)➊ By "seizing" here is meant sleep. For the explanation of {’’ تَوَفِّيْ‘‘}, see Surah Az-Zumar (42).
➋ {ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُكُمْ فِيْهِ:} That is, during the day He returns your soul to you; it is understood from this that sleep is also a kind of death.
➌ {لِيُقْضٰۤى اَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى:} That is, for each of you, the sustenance and lifespan that has been determined is completed.
➍ {ثُمَّ اِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ … :} That is, during the day He returns your soul and gives you life, and He knows whether you have done good deeds or bad; then if you have done good, He will give a good reward, and if you have done bad, He will give a bad reward. In the above verse, the perfection of knowledge was mentioned, and from this, the perfection of power is proven. (Razi)
