Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 60)➊ By "seizing" here is meant sleep. For the explanation of {’’ تَوَفِّيْ‘‘}, see Surah Az-Zumar (42).
{ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُكُمْ فِيْهِ:} That is, during the day He returns your soul to you; it is understood from this that sleep is also a kind of death.
{لِيُقْضٰۤى اَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى:} That is, for each of you, the sustenance and lifespan that has been determined is completed.
{ثُمَّ اِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ … :} That is, during the day He returns your soul and gives you life, and He knows whether you have done good deeds or bad; then if you have done good, He will give a good reward, and if you have done bad, He will give a bad reward. In the above verse, the perfection of knowledge was mentioned, and from this, the perfection of power is proven. (Razi)
