Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Truly, my Lord has guided me to a Straight Path, a right religion, the religion of Ibrâhîm (Abraham), Hanîfa [i.e. the true Islâmic Monotheism - to believe in One God (Allâh i.e. to worship none but Allâh, Alone)] and he was not of Al-Mushrikûn (See V.2:105)."

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 161) ➊ {قُلْاِنَّنِيْهَدٰىنِيْرَبِّيْۤاِلٰىصِرَاطٍمُّسْتَقِيْمٍ …… :} In the entire surah, after proving monotheism with arguments and refuting the polytheists, in the end, the summary is presented in the form of a few facts. {’’ قِيَمًا ‘‘} This is a verbal noun in the meaning of {’’ قِيَامٌ ‘‘ }, which has been made an attribute of the religion for emphasis, just as {’’ زَيْدٌعَدْلٌ ‘‘} is, meaning Zaid is very just, as if he is entirely justice, that is, this religion is extremely upright, strong, and straight. ➋ {وَمَاكَانَمِنَالْمُشْرِكِيْنَ:} In this, there is a refutation of the polytheists of Makkah and the Jews and Christians who were under the impression that they were following the religion of Abraham. Allah Almighty commanded the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to say to him that your claim is false, what comparison is there between you and him! You are polytheists and Abraham (peace be upon him) was free from polytheism and had turned towards one Allah. His religion was the true, straight, and extremely strong religion of Islam, which Allah Almighty chose for His sincere servants and whose guidance my Lord has granted me.
