Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 133) ➊ {وَرَبُّكَالْغَنِيُّ:} Here, due to {’’ الْغَنِيُّ ‘‘} being a definite predicate and {’’ الرَّحْمَةِ ‘‘} having "alif laam," it has been translated as "And your Lord alone is self-sufficient, full of perfect mercy." No one else is self-sufficient or full of perfect mercy except Him, meaning He has no need of the creation, yet, as a favor, He is full of perfect mercy. This also means that the blessings mentioned earlier, such as sending messengers, etc., are purely out of mercy, not for any benefit to Himself.
➋ { ذُوالرَّحْمَةِ:} The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah has one hundred mercies. He has sent down one mercy among the jinn, humans, animals, and insects; it is because of this one mercy that they show kindness and mercy to one another, and because of this one mercy, even wild animals love their young. Allah has kept ninety-nine mercies with Himself, which He will bestow upon His servants on the Day of Resurrection." [ مسلم، التوبۃ، باب فی سعۃ رحمۃ اﷲ تعالٰی …… : 2752/19 ]
➌ { اِنْيَّشَاْيُذْهِبْكُمْ …… :} That is, just as He made you successors of previous people, in the same way, He can destroy you and make others your successors, or it means that His power is not limited to creating only jinn and humans, but He can also create a third kind of creation in their place. (Razi) See Surah An-Nisa (133), Surah Ibrahim (20, 19), and Surah Fatir (15 to 17).
