Surah Al-Hadid (57) — Ayah 18

إِنَّ ٱلْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَٱلْمُصَّدِّقَـٰتِ وَأَقْرَضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَـٰعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿18﴾
Verily, those who give Sadaqât (i.e. Zakât and alms), men and women, and lend Allâh a goodly loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and theirs shall be an honourable good reward (i.e. Paradise).
إِنَّ inna Indeed
ٱلْمُصَّدِّقِينَ l-muṣadiqīna the men who give charity
وَٱلْمُصَّدِّقَـٰتِ wal-muṣadiqāti and the women who give charity
وَأَقْرَضُوا۟ wa-aqraḍū and who lend
ٱللَّهَ l-laha (to) Allah
قَرْضًا qarḍan a loan
حَسَنًۭا ḥasanan goodly
يُضَـٰعَفُ yuḍāʿafu it will be multiplied
لَهُمْ lahum for them
وَلَهُمْ walahum and for them
أَجْرٌۭ ajrun (is) a reward
كَرِيمٌۭ karīmun noble

(Ayah 18) ➊ {اِنَّ الْمُصَّدِّقِيْنَ وَ الْمُصَّدِّقٰتِ: ’’ الْمُصَّدِّقِيْنَ ‘‘} is originally from the verb form "tafa‘‘ul" as {’’ اَلْمُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ ‘‘}, the "ta" was changed to "sad" and then assimilated into "sad." The emphasis on "sad" indicates exaggeration and abundance in charity, meaning men who give a lot of charity and women who give a lot of charity. The same is the case in {’’ الْمُزَّمِّلُ ‘‘} and {’’ الْمُدَّثِّرُ ‘‘}.
{وَ اَقْرَضُوا اللّٰهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا …:} Here is a question: How was the verb {’’ اَقْرَضُوا اللّٰهَ ‘‘} coordinated with the active participle {’’ الْمُصَّدِّقِيْنَ ‘‘}? One of the answers is that {’’ الْمُصَّدِّقِيْنَ ‘‘} is actually in the meaning of {’’اَلَّذِيْنَ تَصَدَّقُوْا‘‘}, so the coordination of {’’ اَقْرَضُوا ‘‘} is with {’’تَصَدَّقُوْا‘‘} which is implied in {’’مُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ‘‘}. {’’مُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ‘‘} has been brought in the form of an active participle to express continuity. For the explanation of this verse, see the commentary of verse (11) of this surah. However, here in the word {’’ الْمُصَّدِّقِيْنَ ‘‘}, the abundance of charity and its continuity is an addition to that.
