Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 78) {تَبٰرَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلٰلِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ:’’ تَبٰرَكَ ‘‘} is from the form "tafā‘ul"; when mutual participation is not intended in it, then emphasis is meant, that is, very blessed is the name of your Lord. Then when His name is so blessed, how blessed will His pure essence be. Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he would seek forgiveness three times and say: [ اَللّٰهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَ مِنْكَ السَّلاَمُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِْكْرَامِ ] [ مسلم، المساجد، باب استحباب الذکر بعد الصلاۃ …:۵۹۱ ] "O Allah! You are Peace and from You is peace, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor!" In this supplication, many people add these words: {’’ وَإِلَيْكَ يُرْجَعُ السَّلاَمُ حَيِّنَا رَبَّنَا بِالسَّلاَمِ وَ أَدْخِلْنَا دَارَ السَّلاَمِ ۔‘‘} These words are not established from the hadith.
{’’ ذِي الْجَلٰلِ وَ الْاِكْرَامِ ‘‘} is such a blessed name of Allah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized reciting it abundantly. Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ أَلِظُّوْا بِيَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِْكْرَامِ ] [ ترمذي، الدعوات، باب : ۳۵۲۴، وقال الألباني صحیح ] "Hold fast to {’’ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَ الإِْكْرَامِ ‘‘}, adhere to it." {’’أَلِظُّوْا‘‘ ’’أَلَظَّ يُلِظُّ إِلْظَاظًا‘‘} is from a source whose meaning is "to cling." The command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to adhere to it shows how blessed this name is.
