Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 60){ هَلْجَزَآءُالْاِحْسَانِاِلَّاالْاِحْسَانُ:} The first "ihsan" means goodness, and the second "ihsan" means the good reward for that goodness, i.e., Paradise. In the Hadith of Jibreel, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) explained the meaning of ihsan as: [ أَنْتَعْبُدَاللّٰهَكَأَنَّكَتَرَاهُ ، فَإِنَّكَإِنْلَاتَرَاهُفَإِنَّهُيَرَاكَ ][مسلم ، الإیمان ، باب الإیمان ما ھو ؟ … : ۹ ] "That you worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then surely He sees you." It is obvious that the person who spent his life with the certainty and caution that his Lord is always watching over him, his reward should also be just as good and beautiful, as mentioned in these verses. Allah Almighty has stated here exclusively, "Is there any reward for goodness except goodness?" By this, the reward is meant according to the demands of justice and fairness; otherwise, the polytheists and wrongdoers repay goodness with evil, so in a way, this is also a kind of sarcasm towards them. For examples of the behavior of the disbelievers, see Surah Al-Ankabut (66, 65), Al-A'raf (190), and Surah Al-Waqi'ah (82).
