Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

is the verbal noun (masdar) of (Ayah 5) { اَلشَّمْسُ وَ الْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ: ’’حُسْبَانٌ‘‘ ’’حَسِبَ يَحْسِبُ‘‘} is, in which "alif noon" has been added, thereby increasing the meaning, as is the case in {’’طُغْيَانٌ‘‘ ’’رُجْحَانٌ‘‘} and {’’كُفْرَانٌ‘‘}, etc. That is, the sun and the moon are moving with a very precise and subtle calculation; under the sky, the fixed and moving stars are countless, some of which are thousands of times larger than the sun and the moon. The countless wisdoms of Allah Almighty in their creation and movement are also innumerable, but the sun and the moon are mentioned specifically because, due to their prominent visibility, the affairs of the inhabitants of the earth are more closely related to these two. Mufassir Kilani writes: "The sun and the moon moving according to a fixed speed, and then not being delayed even for a moment, is a great blessing for mankind. From the sun, day and night keep alternating, and the seasons keep changing gradually. The times of prayers are also related to the sun, and the ripening of crops also depends on the sun. From the moon, we get light at night, we can keep track of months and years, and this is the real and natural calendar. That is why the fasting of Ramadan, Hajj, the two Eids, and other countable periods, such as the period of pregnancy, the period of suckling, and the 'iddah (waiting period), etc., are related to the moon. Then, such an appropriate distance has been kept between the sun and the earth that any increase or decrease in it would make life impossible for humans and all other living beings on this earth, and all benefits are being obtained only because Allah Almighty has bound these gigantic bodies in such natural laws that they cannot deviate at all and remain constantly revolving in their fixed orbits at a fixed speed."
