Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 3) {خَلَقَالْاِنْسَانَ:} This is also the predicate of the word {’’ اَلرَّحْمٰنُ ‘‘}, and by bringing it in the form of a verb, the benefit of specification is achieved. Thus, two things are mentioned in this verse: one is that it is Ar-Rahman alone who created man, so worship is also due to Him alone. The second is the mention of the blessing of creating man. The mention of all other blessings present in the heavens and the earth comes after this, because all of them are after the creation of man; if he did not exist, what benefit would any blessing be to him? However, the mention of the blessing of teaching the Quran is stated even before this, to draw attention to its importance. "It is Ar-Rahman alone who created man"—this is not something that the polytheists did not accept, but stating it in explicit words means that, in reality, the polytheists do not accept this, because if they did, why would they worship anyone else?
