Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 22) {يَخْرُجُمِنْهُمَااللُّؤْلُؤُوَالْمَرْجَانُ:} Mufassir Kilani writes: "Marjan is actually a creation that is intermediate between minerals and plants; just as all pearls are a type of stone, marjan is also a type of stone, but it grows like plants and is not static like minerals. Marjan has a small plant-like form with branches as well. Pearls and marjan are generally products of salty water, but beneath this salty water, by Allah's power, springs of fresh water are also gushing forth or flowing alongside, which is why the word {’’ مِنْهُمَا ‘‘} has been used, meaning these things are produced as a result of Allah Almighty's amazing creative acts, from which humans are benefiting." (Taysir al-Qur'an) See also Surah An-Nahl (14).
