Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

The literal meaning of { حِكْمَةٌۢ بَالِغَةٌ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ: ’’ بَالِغَةٌ ‘‘} is "that which reaches," intended as wisdom that has reached its utmost limit and perfection. {’’ النُّذُرُ ‘‘ ’’نَذِيْرٌ‘‘} is the plural of نَذِيْرٌ, meaning things that cause fear. {’’نَذِيْرٌ‘‘} can also be a verbal noun, just like {’’نَكِيْرٌ‘‘}, meaning warnings, threats. {’’ حِكْمَةٌ ‘‘} is a substitute for {’’ مَا فِيْهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ ‘‘} mentioned in the previous verse. That is, among the incidents of previous nations, those incidents in which there is provision for refraining from disbelief and denial are matters of complete wisdom and prudence, but these warnings and things that alert do not benefit those who do not accept them. See Surah Yunus (10:101).
