Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 5) {عَلَّمَهٗ شَدِيْدُ الْقُوٰى:} Some people interpret this as referring to Allah Almighty, but this is not correct; rather, it refers to Jibreel (Gabriel), peace be upon him, who conveyed Allah Almighty’s revelation to him, peace be upon him. The evidence for this is that elsewhere this attribute is clearly described as belonging to Jibreel, peace be upon him, as He said: « اِنَّهٗ لَقَوْلُ رَسُوْلٍ كَرِيْمٍ (19) ذِيْ قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِيْنٍ (20) مُّطَاعٍ ثَمَّ اَمِيْنٍ » [التکویر : ۱۹ تا ۲۱] “Indeed, this is the word of a noble messenger. Possessor of power, with the Owner of the Throne, secure in position. Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.” {’’ الْقُوٰى ‘‘ ’’قُوَّةٌ‘‘} is the plural of 'Quwwah', from which it is understood that Allah Almighty granted Jibreel, peace be upon him, not just one but many powers, and each power is extremely strong and mighty. Now, who can estimate the powers of one whom Allah Almighty Himself calls “possessor of mighty powers”? The leader of the children of Adam, peace be upon him, saw him in his original form only twice, and from the state that befell him, peace be upon him, upon seeing him, one can get a slight idea of his greatness and awe, beauty and elegance, and power and vastness. Then, from traversing distances of thousands of years in moments, one can get a slight idea of the speed and strength of his movement.
