Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 37,36) ➊ { اَمْلَمْيُنَبَّاْبِمَافِيْصُحُفِمُوْسٰى … :} That is, if he is not ready to believe in the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and he does not possess knowledge of the unseen, then has anyone not informed him of the fundamental principles written in the books of the previous prophets? Among these prophets, Ibrahim and Musa (peace be upon them) are mentioned specifically because they claimed to follow the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him), and after Ibrahim (peace be upon him), the fundamental book of commandments was the Torah revealed to Musa (peace be upon him), which all subsequent prophets followed, and which was still present at that time, and the Quraysh used to ask the Jews about it. ➋ { وَاِبْرٰهِيْمَالَّذِيْوَفّٰۤى:’’ وَفّٰۤى ‘‘} Who fulfilled, it is not mentioned what was fulfilled, so that it remains general, that he fulfilled every covenant made with Allah Almighty and with the servants. (See Tawbah: 114) He fulfilled whatever command Allah Almighty gave, and whatever matters he was tested with, he fulfilled all of them. (See Baqarah: 124) {’’ الَّذِيْوَفّٰۤى ‘‘} (Who fulfilled) Regarding this, the commentator Sanaullah Amritsari writes: "In my opinion, {’’ الَّذِيْ ‘‘} is an attribute of each of the two (prophets). (And Allah knows best)." {’’ أَيْكُلُّوَاحِدٍمِّنْهُمَا ‘‘} That is, each of Ibrahim and Musa (peace be upon them) fulfilled the covenant.
