وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ ﴿5﴾

(Ayah 5) {وَ السَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوْعِ:} By this is meant the sky, which is like a roof for the earth, as He said: « وَ جَعَلْنَا السَّمَآءَ سَقْفًا مَّحْفُوْظًا وَّ هُمْ عَنْ اٰيٰتِهَا مُعْرِضُوْنَ » [ الأنبیاء : ۳۲ ] “And We made the sky a protected roof, but they turn away from its signs.” Which Allah, the Exalted, has held at such a height without any pillars, merely by His command, as He said: « اَللّٰهُ الَّذِيْ رَفَعَ السَّمٰوٰتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍ تَرَوْنَهَا » [ الرعد : ۲ ] “Allah is the One who raised the heavens without pillars that you see.” And He said: « وَ يُمْسِكُ السَّمَآءَ اَنْ تَقَعَ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِهٖ» [ الحج : ۶۵] “And He holds the sky so that it does not fall upon the earth except by His permission.” Then He adorned this lofty roof with the sun, moon, and stars, as He said: «وَ لَقَدْ زَيَّنَّا السَّمَآءَ الدُّنْيَا بِمَصَابِيْحَ » [ الملک : ۵ ] “And indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps.” Allah, the Exalted, has mentioned the creation of the sky at several places as evidence for the resurrection of mankind, as He said: «ءَاَنْتُمْ اَشَدُّ خَلْقًا اَمِ السَّمَآءُ بَنٰىهَا (27) رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوّٰىهَا (28) وَ اَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَ اَخْرَجَ ضُحٰىهَا » [ النازعات : ۲۷ تا ۲۹ ] “Are you more difficult to create or the sky? He constructed it. He raised its roof and proportioned it. And He darkened its night and brought forth its daylight.”
