Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 47) ➊ {وَ اِنَّ لِلَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا عَذَابًا دُوْنَ ذٰلِكَ :} means that for the disbelievers, there is also a punishment before the Day of Resurrection. By this are meant the punishments that come in this world. See the exegesis of Surah At-Tawbah (126) and Surah As-Sajdah (21).

{ وَ لٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ:} means that in this world, various calamities and punishments befall them, the purpose of which is that they may turn back and repent, but most of them do not know why these calamities have come upon them. Therefore, as soon as the grip loosens, they become even more disobedient than before, and neither consider the punishment as punishment nor as a warning. Rather, they find some scientific cause for the punishment and some excuse to persist in their disobedience. Some scholars have included, in the words {’’ دُوْنَ ذٰلِكَ ‘‘} (before the Day of Resurrection), not only the worldly punishments but also the blows of the angels of death and the punishment of the grave.
