Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 26) {قَالُوْۤا اِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِيْۤ اَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِيْنَ:} That is, they will say that before this, while living among our families in the world and enjoying every kind of comfort, we used to remain fearful that we might disobey Allah, that our good deeds might not be accepted, and that our end might be ruined due to the consequences of our actions. {’’ فِيْۤ اَهْلِنَا ‘‘} (Among our families) also includes the meaning that we used to fear for our family members that they might not become disobedient to Allah and, as a result of disobedience, might not become fuel for Hell, and also that we might not go astray because of them, that in earning for their sake we might not end up committing unlawful acts, that we might not fall short in trying to make them prayerful and obedient to the Lord Almighty, and that their love might not overpower our obedience to Allah.
