Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 59) ➊ {فَاِنَّ لِلَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا ذَنُوْبًا … : ’’ ذَنُوْبًا ‘‘} (with fathah on the dhal) originally means a large bucket, and {’’ذُنُوْبٌ‘‘} (with dammah on the dhal) is the plural of {’’ذَنْبٌ‘‘}, meaning sin. In earlier times, people would come to draw water from the same well, each bringing his own bucket. Then, one by one, they would lower their bucket and take water, so the word {’’ذَنُوْبٌ‘‘} (bucket) began to be used in the sense of "turn" or "chance." At the end of the surah, it is said about the disbelievers of Quraysh that just as punishment came upon their companions before them, turn by turn, likewise the turn (bari) of punishment is also coming upon these polytheists who have committed injustice. By injustice is meant associating partners with Allah. One has to wait a little for the turn to come.
{ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُوْنِ:} is originally {’’ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُوْنِيْ‘‘}, the "ya" has been omitted, and the kasrah on the protective "nun" remains to indicate that the "ya" has been omitted here. So they should not demand that I hasten the punishment; when their turn comes, this demand of theirs will also be fulfilled.
