(Ayah 21) ➊ { وَفِيْۤاَنْفُسِكُمْاَفَلَاتُبْصِرُوْنَ:} That is, within your own selves there are countless signs of being resurrected again, for from dust and a drop of fluid to death, every moment is a witness to life after death, because every cell of the body that exists perishes and a new cell takes its place, and this process continues uninterrupted, during which a person transitions from childhood to youth and then to old age, yet those who reflect on this cycle of life and death are very few. See this discussion in detail in the commentary of Surah Al-Mu’minun (12 to 16). ➋ In the human being’s own self, besides the Resurrection, there are countless signs of Allah’s existence, His oneness, wisdom, planning, craftsmanship, power, and other attributes. Commentator Kilani writes: “Man’s own existence and his machinery is a microcosm, and the signs within it are in no way less than the signs of the macrocosm. Man’s stomach works like a mill day and night, busy grinding food and preparing a mixture. When it is done, it demands more food, which we call hunger. If there is a shortage of water in the preparation of this mixture, we feel thirsty and are compelled to eat and drink. Then, inside it, there is also a sieve through which this mixture is filtered and passes to the liver, where machines and forces that throw, expel, purify, and draw are at work. Here, other humors are formed. The excess water is expelled by the kidneys through the urinary tract. The expulsive force expels excess material or waste, and just as man is compelled to eat and drink, he is also compelled to relieve himself, and if he withholds, he falls ill. Then, in the human body, there are such fine tubes whose openings cannot be seen without a microscope, and through these, blood reaches every part of the body. In this process, the human heart acts as a pump, which if it stops even for a minute, death occurs. Then, human breathing is a whole separate system. The most delicate are the layers and membranes of the eye, which are made with such subtlety that if there is even a slight defect, vision fails. (Then there are the systems of hearing, smelling, tasting, thinking, understanding, remembering, feeling, sleeping, waking, speaking, and countless other functions, each of which, if reflected upon, drowns a person in an ocean of wonder.) The human body has been the focus of research for sages and doctors from the very beginning, yet most of its secrets remain veiled to this day.” [ تیسیر القرآن ] ➌ In { ’’ وَفِيالْاَرْضِاٰيٰتٌ ‘‘} the mention is of cosmic signs, and in {’’ وَفِيْۤاَنْفُسِكُمْ ‘‘} of signs within the self.
