Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 5) ➊ { بَلْ كَذَّبُوْا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ:} That is, not only did these people find it strange that a messenger came from among their own kind and that there would be resurrection, but even more than this, when the truth came to them, they rejected it immediately without any reflection or thought.
That is, after rejecting without thinking or understanding, now they themselves do not comprehend what justification they should present for denying the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and the Qur'an. Therefore, sometimes they say one thing and sometimes another. They are not settled on any one point and are in severe mental confusion. Sometimes they call the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) a poet, sometimes a soothsayer, sometimes insane (mad), and sometimes a magician. Similarly, sometimes they say the Qur'an is a composition authored by the Prophet (peace be upon him), sometimes they say that some non-Arab teaches him, and sometimes they call it magic. In short, on every occasion, they invent something or the other.
