Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 37){ اِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَذِكْرٰى لِمَنْ كَانَ لَهٗ قَلْبٌ …:’’ قَلْبٌ ‘‘} is an indefinite noun, therefore it has been translated as "any heart." There are only two means of obtaining admonition: either a person reflects and uses his intellect, or he listens attentively to the words of a well-wisher and acts upon them. That is, only he can take admonition from what has been stated in this Surah who possesses any heart with which he reflects upon it. "Any heart" means that he reflects even a little with his heart, or listens to these verses with the presence of heart. But the state of the disbelievers is: «لَهُمْ قُلُوْبٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُوْنَ بِهَا وَ لَهُمْ اَعْيُنٌ لَّا يُبْصِرُوْنَ بِهَا وَ لَهُمْ اٰذَانٌ لَّا يَسْمَعُوْنَ بِهَا» [ الأعراف : ۱۷۹ ] "They have hearts with which they do not understand, and they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear." And on the Day of Resurrection, they themselves will admit: « لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ اَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِيْۤ اَصْحٰبِ السَّعِيْرِ» [ الملک: ۱۰ ] "If we had listened or understood, we would not have been among the companions of the blazing Fire."
