Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 27) {قَالَ قَرِيْنُهٗ رَبَّنَا مَاۤ اَطْغَيْتُهٗ … :} When the disbeliever hears this command, he will say, "O my Lord! I have no sin; it was my companion (qarin) who led me astray." In response, his companion (qarin) will say, "O our Lord! I did not make him rebellious; rather, he himself was deeply involved in misguidance. I did not force him in any way. If he had not been extremely misguided himself, he would never have adopted rebellion just because of my suggestion." By "qarin" is meant both that devil who stays with a person and keeps leading him astray, and also the evil companions among humans who teach him evil and incite him towards it. On the Day of Judgment, when the criminal will make the excuse that these people led me astray, they will clearly disassociate themselves from him. For details about these misleading devils among humans and jinn disassociating themselves from those they misled, see Surah Al-Baqarah (__XREF_167__), Al-A'raf (__XREF_38__, __XREF_39__), Ibrahim (__XREF_21__), Saba (__XREF_31__ to __XREF_33__), and Surah Sad (__XREF_55__ to __XREF_61__).
