Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 98) {اِعْلَمُوْۤا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ شَدِيْدُ الْعِقَابِ …:} Therefore, you should seek refuge from His punishment on one hand, and on the other hand, remain hopeful for His mercy. The essence of faith is that a servant remains in a state of both fear and hope. It is said: «وَ ادْعُوْهُ خَوْفًا وَّ طَمَعًا» [ الأعراف : ۵۶ ] "And call upon Him in fear and hope." Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a believer were to know of the punishment (torment) prepared by Allah, no one would desire Paradise, and if a disbeliever were to know of the vastness of Allah's mercy, no one would despair of His Paradise." [مسلم، التوبۃ، باب فی سعۃ رحمۃ اللہ …: ۲۷۵۵ ]
