Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 92) ➊ {وَ اَطِيْعُوا اللّٰهَ وَ اَطِيْعُوا الرَّسُوْلَ:} That is, refraining from gambling and alcohol is obedience to Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him). Therefore, beware of opposing Allah and His Messenger. (Razi, Qurtubi) Remember that obedience to Allah and His Messenger means following the Qur’an and Sunnah. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: [ أَلاَ اِنِّيْ أُوْتِيْتُ الْكِتَابَ وَ مِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ ] “I have been given the Book, that is, the Qur’an, and something like it along with it (Hadith).” [أبو داوٗد، السنۃ، باب فی لزوم السنۃ:۴۶۰۴ وصححہ الألبانی ]
{فَاِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ …:} In this, there is a warning for those who, despite this definitive command, do not refrain from drinking alcohol and gambling. (Kabir)
